Strawberry Jam
3 cups sliced strawberries 2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons powdered fruit pectin 1/2 teaspoon margarine or butter 1 1/4 cup sugar ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raspberry Jam
3 cups raspberries 1 tablespoon lemon juice 5 teaspoons powdered fruit pectin 1/2 teaspoon margarine or butter 1 1/4 cup sugar
*I mash the berries first because I don't like stirring over a hot stove.
Combine berries, lemon juice, pectin, and margarine in pan. Heat to boiling, *blending and mashing with potato masher or back of spoon, boil 1 minute. Stir in sugar, return to boiling. Boil 2 more minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Cool at room temperature 15 minutes.
Pour into half pint jars with tight-fitting lids. Cover and refrigerate.
